Think About That!

What a beautiful place.

Do you ever think about your telephone and how it works? No, I mean how it really works? How does our voice travel through this device, to another persons device, so that we can communicate? Now don’t give me the electronics of it, the bits and pieces that go into making the phone like, chips, clips and wires. I mean how the hell do the waves travel clear across the world or even just across the street so that we may talk, view information, text, and listen to music.

We as humans have created amazing things. Wonderful things. Sadly, we have lost our wonder at such creations. I work nights and sometimes we get onto these weird topics, I mean really strange as the dark settles in, and our brains expand into the unknown. At least that is how it feels sometimes when we get sleepy and start talking

Do these waves fly through our tiny little cells as they are moving at the speed of light, or whatever speed they are going, do we even know how fast they are going, or do they zoom around us on the trail to your/my device.

There are millions of radio and television stations around the world sending out data at the speed of light or faster into the homes of people thousands of miles apart. How is that even possible? Really! We can’t see the waves, I don’t feel them going through my body, but we know they are there soaring around undeterred.

I was curious about MRIs and how they worked. I got ran over by a speeding pit bull, that’s another story, and I had to have a MRI of my knee. I went into the room and this machine took pictures of the ligaments, muscle and bones in my leg. How was that even possible?

Energy radiates off of everything

Let me tell you how the MRI works. I am a dos for dummy kind of person so I will give you my version. The MRI machine sends out a huge magnetic wave that sets our protons, our protons, the protons in our body spinning like mad, and then it sends out a radio wave that shuts these buggers down, and when they come to a screeching halt they give off a burst of ENERGY. And then the MRI machine takes pictures of that energy which shows the ligaments, muscles and bones. Read this again because it is truly amazing. It takes pictures of the energy given off by these protons when they come to an abrupt halt. And that energy is caught on film.

Doesn’t that boggle your mind? Doesn’t it astound you? It sure does me. I mean it makes our protons, that we can’t even see spin, spin, and then when they slam to a halt they take a picture of the energy they give off. Dam, I mean who thought of this, and how did they think of this. We are talking about going really deep into the microscopic world, energy waves, and the unknown.

There is so much in our world that begs the question, how the hell does this work, and we don’t even get excited. We just continue talking, texting, shopping, and whatever else it is we do.

We really can’t explain the reality of it. We can talk about the bits and pieces that go into making it possible, but we can’t explain how it really is possible. At least not to my satisfaction.

I say we need to get back to the wonder of what we have created. We need to be amazed at what is around us. Let’s open our eyes to the world, and ask the question how does this even work.

Life amazes me, nature and all its creatures makes me catch my breath, it is so amazing. I say we need to tap into that amazement and appreciate what we have in our lives at this moment in time. Share this wonder with your children and family. Talk about these things so they will begin to wonder too. Foster in the young a curiosity about the world around them. They are the next generation of scientists who will expand on all of our creations thus far.

Instead of sitting in front of the television get them out in the world to look and analyze whats before them. Show them how remarkable this planet earth really is. They will be the saviors of our future. We need to open their eyes to the wonder around them. And as I always say, have a great day today. You and I deserve it.

Wow!

BLOG CAST. LIVE FROM ME TO YOU.

Greetings from Lifeview101, my new blog cast!  ( This is Krissy)

I have finally admitted to myself that I am not getting enough people to read my blog, so I have chosen to include a blog cast on each new post. After all some of us like to read, and some of us just like to listen. On the blog itself I have tried to include some wonderful pictures from pixaby.com to enhance your viewing pleasure. This site has thousands of free pictures to download for anyone to use. A little donation would not hurt the artist either if you find something you really love, but it’s not required. I have found many pictures I’ve loved and used. Look at my blog pictures. Some are mine; and some are from pixaby.com

The most exciting thing about doing this blog cast is the fact that I can sit here and be in my pajamas. I can be in my underwear. I don’t need any makeup. I don’t need to fix my hair, it’s just you and me having a conversation.  I like that part. The not seeing somebody, just listening to each other so that we don’t allow our prejudice, or our own bias to get in the way of developing a friendship. For now, it is just me talking, but if this turns into a great adventure then perhaps I will be able to expand and we can talk to each other one on one.

If there is something you want to share, or to talk about fill out my contact page on my blog, and I will try and get back to you as soon as I can. I will definitely share what you write, good or bad.

I believe that when we use our sight, the first thing that happens is we judge people for how they look to us without ever giving them a chance to shine through. We form many of our opinions on what we see, not on who people really are.

I think with blog casting, not having any video feed will give you the chance to really get to know me. To see who I am without forming any opinions by how I look, whether I’m fat or skinny, tall or thin, beautiful or not.

You know those are all terrible words to describe people that we frequently use. When we can’t use our vision though we have to use our other senses to develop an opinion about someone. And probably the best sense for us is to listen to the sound of their voice. When we’re listening to people we can form our own ideas of who they are by the sound of their voice, and by what they have to say.  Not by how they look. It should be a requirement in all fields.  What someone has to say that is.

I can hear you!

One of my favorite people who I fell instantaneously in love with at the sound of his voice was James Earl Jones. There isn’t anyone who has heard his voice and not fallen in love with the man. He has the most distinct, beautiful voice of anyone I have ever heard.

His laugh is great. It is so rich and deep you just have to smile when you hear it. I could listen to him talk forever. Listening to his voice is like being pulled by a magnet, you cannot help but be drawn to him.

This is what I want to do with my blog cast. I want to keep your first reaction, that first sight reaction out of the picture so you can hear me first, get to know me, and then form your opinions.  I don’t want you to see the color of my skin, or how old I am, and judge me.  I want you to listen and learn. Then you can decide to like or dislike me

Since this will be a new endeavor for us, I ask for your patience as this will be a learning experience for both of us. You get to see how goofy I can be, and I get to try and learn yet another new skill. When I first started my blog, it was a mess.  I could not get pictures to load, I was losing stuff. I almost gave up I was so frustrated. Thank heavens there are great helpers out there. You can look at my first pieces and see for yourself.

Right now, all I want to do is record my post for you, and if this turns into a success then I will tackle the more difficult task of turning this blog into a real downloadable podcast. You will be my life coaches, my team of analysts.

One thing I have learned in life is that we often need to be motivated to keep going.  We all know what changes we need to make in our life, no one really needs to tell us that, but what we really need is new motivation.  A new way to hear the same old message. After all that is what many of these new authors are all about. Telling us things that we already know in a different, more appealing way.

I hope that my blog cast will tell you things in a new way too. One thing I have decided to do in the near future is release my new book as a weekly blog cast.  The thought is scary for me, but I think it will be more powerful for you to hear me read my own words. The story is not a happy love story, but one of a child’s trauma.  It is something I need to release to the world. Something I hope will help others.

So, I hope to hear from you in the future.  Please share with me your impression of my new way of sharing with you, my audience.  I hope we will succeed together. Until next time, as I always say, have a great day today, you and I deserve it.

Hey we did it!!!!

Here We Go!!!

Yes it is the new year, 2021. I can not believe it when I look at that number. I remember when I was growing up and thinking toward the future, 2021 was so far away. I thought we would have traveled far into another galaxy or dimension by now, but nope, we are right here, right now on planet earth. So what are we going to do different?

I say the only goal we really need to set for ourselves is the goal to be a better person! If we head that direction all the other little stuff will fall into place like eating right, exercising, controlling our anger, getting a grip on our spending, and loving our family. We can include forgiveness in there if we feel up to that part. Also patience with ourselves because change is hard on any level.

I gave up chocolate on the first of this year, and last night on the second night of the year I ate two chocolate muffins and drank a cup of milk. My reasoning was that I did not want them to go to waste, so I thought I should just get them out of the freezer, before they got freezer burn, and eat them. They were delicious and made me feel like shit. So much for that resolution. I will try another later.

We can set any goals we want, be anything we want, go in any direction we want. It starts with that first step, and that first day. As far as I am concerned everyday can be the first day, so today I ate salmon and salad. I feel great.

In the chaos that is flowing around I ask you to take a moment to listen to some really special music. Something soft and flowing, perhaps without words so that you will not be distracted. Let the music carry you away. Let go of your troubles and worries, they can come back later.

I listened to some of the most beautiful music by ” Hauser” he is one of the worlds greatest cello players. Actually he and his friend have been a group of two for years called 2cellos. They are fabulous. And they are lovely to look at too.

I listened to them playing the song ” hallelujah” and the music pierced my heart traveling all the way through into the universe. It was like I was at a standstill floating freely among the stars, and the music. It was so lovely. And no I was not under the influence of anything but the music coming out of that box and into my heart. I felt in that moment that there was nothing in life worth giving up such a wonderful sense of peace for. We must not let the day to day chaos injure our souls. It is not worth losing that sense of peace over some garbage that we can’t even control.

When you are feeling down find something to lift up your mood. Music is the best weapon against the dark side. It has the ability to help us let go of the inner turmoil. It is magical in it’s power to bring about a change in us, and the things around us. Music has been shown to even soothe the animal world.

So go to You tube, we all love You Tube, and watch a video by ” Hauser” or the 2 cellos and let your sadness and pain flow away. We are perfect just the way are. We just need a little tweaking every now and then, and music can be that instrument. And as I always say have a great day today, you and I deserve it.

The Happiness Factor

Ah dang it, me too.

Well today I am feeling a little down. It happens. Sometimes I go for a couple of weeks and then my mood shifts once again. I have these little pity parties. I bet you do the same thing. The holidays are a hard time for some folks, and for some it is just the day to day stuff that brings us down.

I am feeling down right now because I really just want to retire. Yep, I am sick of the grind, not that I have to work really hard, but it is the monotony of the the day. It is going and doing the same old thing. It is not getting to do the things I really want to do. It is the years whizzing by. I am almost seventy and I know that my time is limited. You would think by this point I would be free to do what I want. Nope. Bad planning on my part. Didn’t save enough money, so I need to keep working.

Take it from me you youngsters and prepare for the time when you want to retire. Save and plan. I did not and now I am stuck working when I wish I was free.

I wrote a book, you can see it on my Market Ste page. I thought that it was going to be my ride out the retirement door. No such luck. I have tried a slew of ways to get my book out to the world, but the world isn’t listening.

I am working on another book because it too is pushing it’s way out of inside of me. I hope to have it out there by spring. This may be another chance at freedom.

Life gives us many little gifts to bring us joy!

So, while I am feeling down in the dumps I also realize that I should not let anything take my happiness away. I saw this mantra on Facebook and it hit home with me.

When we get upset, down in the dumps, or angry with someone we are giving away our happiness. Now I know that sounds like a boat load of crap, but it is true. We can control how we are feeling by first recognizing the feeling then saying to ourselves ” I will not let this/them/you take my happiness away.

I know this is simple, but it really is that simple. When you find yourself pissed off say out loud to yourself, ” I am not letting you take my happiness away” say it several times and really mean it. Our days are too precious to give away. Do not let others control how you feel. Spend the day feeling happiness for that day. We are so lucky to have it.

I am not trying to take away your right to get mad about crap. People and things piss us off. It is part of life. It is real. But we can change the effect it has on us by not letting others make us feel bad. By taking back our happiness we free ourselves to feel better.

When we stay mad we are choosing that feeling. Taking back our happiness is a choice as well. We can feel better if we use this mantra. I have used it many times and it works. I have used it since starting this piece and I am already feeling a little better.

Hey I love you, now open this door.

Don’t give away your happiness. Tell yourself that you will not let someone or something take it away. Look at what is good around you. Let your happiness flow, and for today have a great day, you and I deserve it.

Mute. Turn It Off!

Ready, set, go!

Okay let’s change up our thinking. I’m done with politics for today. I want to rant about something else, and that something else is all the dam Medicare commercials. I mean if I have to see Joe Namath’s face one more time I am going to lose it!

There he is talking about “getting what you are entitled too, maybe at no cost to you.” over and over again. Yeah right I say, at no cost! What makes him the expert? Just because he is old like the rest of us does not make him the one I want to advise me on insurance. Football yes, insurance no.

I wonder how much per commercial he makes because as many times as I have seen his pretty face on television he’s probably added millions to his tax bracket. His medicare commercials started several years ago so tally it up.

In case you have missed all these commercials or you are lucky enough to have cable, I know that doesn’t usually go with lucky, but in this case it does. I only have an antenna so I am stuck with what the local television shoves in my face. Right now it is all about medicare. Oh, and life insurance in case you want that too. No Joe Namath for those commercials yet.

Now I love the old shows, reruns of everything I loved about the seventies, eighties, and nineties that keep playing night after night. How nostalgic. Wow, who would have thought they would rise from the dead! Anyway I have an antenna, and I stream with my Roku. I have saved thousands of dollars. Literally, but I am stuck with thousands of commercials about medicare, and renewing ” your benefits, maybe at no cost to you.”

Ah, the good old days when the kid nearest the television was the controller.

Now I love good old Joe, he was a hunk in his younger days. And not too bad as an old man. Great with a football, but the mute button has become my new best friend. I have pressed it so many times that the little speaker icon has disappeared. No worries I know right where it is. The sad part of this is that I can now read Joe’s lips I have seen those dam commercials so many times. Bad right?

As soon as I see his face I hit MUTE. You can too. Anytime something comes on that upsets you or you are tired of hearing about, just hit the mute. The silence is wonderful. What a great option. Lips move but the words are gone. You can even make up your own dialog, like ” kiss my grits, give me the money” or something like that.

And if you are really getting upset your controller has an off button too. Yep right on top somewhere. I know where that one is without looking as well, in case I am really annoyed.

Now I know insurance is important, but before you let some star lead you astray look up the cost, and the benefits. As senior citizens we can not refuse medicare part A. If we do they will take away our social security that we paid into, and make us pay back all that they have paid us so far. Really, look it up. You can not refuse medicare part A even if you already have a great insurance provider once you retire from your job. Your primary provider then becomes your secondary provider even if you don’t like that idea. Medicare part A becomes your primary hospital benefit provider rather you like it or not. Check it out.

Are you kidding me, part A?

And if you have to use medicare part A to go into the hospital you have to pay $1483 up front before any other charges or care can be given. This amount changes yearly. First comes the $1483, then your benefits. I should mention it reads ” the allowable benefits” make sure your care is allowable. That was an eye opener for me when I had surgery.

So, back to commercials. The health care industry is bombarding us with commercials because it is time to see if we need extra coverage, and who will provide those benefits. And the companies that consult with us, ” at no charge to you” get a kick back for all the people they send to the companies listed that they refer too, so don’t think they aren’t getting paid for what they are ” doing at no charge to you” (for you) because they are.

I have come to hate commercials. I hate the way words are twisted or presented as they try to fool us into thinking ” their” product is the greatest. And the stars have come out in flocks to do commercials as that is the new money maker for them. I’ve seen good old Tom Selleck one too many times already. He is peddling reverse mortgages.

Just because we are older doesn’t mean we have lost our thinking facilities. We can understand their jargon even if it is coming from good old Joe or Tom. Take your time and look things up. Read the fine print, or have someone your love and trust do it for you so that you can get the best care you can afford because that is really what it is all about. What we can afford when we can no longer work and must live on our retirement. Choose wisely. Do not let someone’s pretty face sway you. And for today, have a great day today, you and I deserve it.

Is it a controller?
